FBCAWhen you have bloodwork done and you get your results back, what do your results tell you about the true state of your health? Usually, not much, right?
But your bloodwork – even a basic set of bloodwork markers – actually has a LOT to tell us about the state of your health.
Frustratingly, “conventional” (mainstream/Western/allopathic) medical practitioners will often say “everything looks fine” with bloodwork, even when you have markers that are not optimal. Or if they do tell you that this or that marker is off, they often don’t tell you why, or what it means, or what you can do to make things better. (More likely, they’ll suggest you take a prescription drug that will suppress and hide your symptoms, leaving the underlying root problems to fester out of sight and gradually worsen).
Would you like to have your bloodwork results interpreted through the lens of optimizing your health, so you can understand what your priorities should be for addressing imbalances, treating the root causes, and start to feel not only “fine” but really good again?
Then you will love Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis (FBCA)!
The FBCA is a research-based, in-depth bloodwork analysis tool that organizes, analyzes and interprets your bloodwork, providing you with a comprehensive assessment of the state of your health from a number of different perspectives, all through the lens of optimization.
First, the FBCA assesses your main functional bodily systems:
- Adrenal Function
- Blood Sugar Regulation
- Bone Health
- Cardiovascular Function
- Gallbladder Function
- GI Function
- Immune Function
- Kidney Function
- Liver Function
- Red Blood Cell Function
- Sex Hormone Function
- Thyroid Function
And then it looks at your supporting, accessory systems:
- Allergies
- Inflammation
- Lipids (Cholesterol)
- Oxidative Stress
- pH Balance
- Toxicity
The FBCA tells you the probability of dysfunction within each of these main and accessory systems, so that you know which areas need the most attention. It also tells you exactly which markers were used to determine your results in each of these areas.
Then the FBCA assesses the Nutrient Status of your body, including potential dysfunctions (such as malabsorption) and imbalances (excesses and deficiencies) regarding:
- Carbohydrates
- Electrolytes
- Fats
- Hydration
- Minerals
- Protein
- Vitamins
Your Nutrient Status is influenced by a number of factors, including dietary intake, digestion, absorption, assimilation, and cellular uptake, and the degree of likelihood of imbalance is included in the FBCA for a variety of individual nutrients:
- Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)
- Vitamin B6
- Vitamin B12/Folate
- Vitamin C
- Calcium
- Vitamin D
- DHEA
- Glutathione
- Iron
- Magnesium
- Molybdenum
- Selenium
The FBCA then gives you a visual representation of your individual markers, so you can easily see where they land within the context of what is optimal. Here’s an example:
Another nifty aspect of the FBCA reports is that when you get them done through me, all of your bloodwork results over time are stored, analyzed and compared with each other, providing you with a comparison from one set of bloodwork to the next, and thus tracking how your health-improvement efforts are working over time! Here’s an example:
Summing Up
With all the information that the FBCA provides, it gives you both a broad and a detailed view of whether you are trending towards or away from optimal health, in which areas, and to what degree.
And once I create your FBCA report from your bloodwork, we can have a consult to discuss what it all means, which areas need the most attention first, and why. And when you get your FBCA through me, I’ll formulate a customized treatment plan to help you address those areas with diet, lifestyle, herbs and supplements.
Next Steps
Have you had bloodwork done that you’d like to have a Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis (FBCA) on, and a treatment plan created using the results? Great!
If you’re already a patient of mine, then:
- Email me your bloodwork results
- Purchase a FBCA report
- Schedule yourself a consultation to go over your FBCA report and treatment plan (NOTE: wait to schedule this consultation until after I receive your final bloodwork results, to give me time to create your report, review it, and formulate your treatment plan)
Don’t have your bloodwork yet? Then check out my post Essential Blood Tests to Get Regularly for a list of the markers I recommend you get tested at least annually, and preferably semi-annually or quarterly, and then head over to Ulta Labs to order your bloodwork at a deep discount. Then, get your bloodwork done, and follow steps 1-3 above.
Not a patient yet? Then step one is to schedule yourself a free Discovery Call, where we can discuss your health issues and goals and see if we’re likely to be a good fit.

Check out my next post in this series on bloodwork, Be Smart About Your Bloodwork, where I take a look at another bloodwork analysis tool, Bloodsmart.
Very informative on their own, the Bloodsmart reports also pair beautifully with the FBCA to provide you with an even broader and deeper understanding of what your basic bloodwork tells you about the challenges your system is facing and where to focus your health-improvement efforts to achieve and maintain optimal health!
